Global food security is a challenge that will become more complex as populations grow, with food demand expected to increase by 50 to 60 per cent over the next century.

Project Highlights

Through collaborations with key stakeholders such as USAID, AusAID, CGIAR, local governments, banks and NGOs, Corteva Agriscience is improving the productivity and enriching the lives of millions of smallholder farmers globally.

Tanzania

In Tanzania, Corteva Agriscience is collaborating with USAID and ACDI/VOCA on the USAID Feed the Future NAFAKA II: Cereals Market System Development project to improve the productivity and enrich the lives of 400,000 smallholder farmers over the next three years through increasing access to high-quality inputs, promoting good agricultural practices, facilitating market linkages and increasing farmers’ access to credit.

Indonesia

In Indonesia, we are collaborating with the Australia-Indonesia Partnership (AIP) for Promoting Rural Incomes through Support for Markets in Agriculture (PRISMA) to improve productivity and enrich the lives of 75,000 smallholder farmers across Madura, East Java. The collaboration aims to improve the corn cultivation through the adoption of better farming practices and improved inputs. The initiative has increased corn yield in this region by 50% and has been expanded to farming communities in East Java and East Nusa Tenggara.

Mexico

Corteva Agriscience is improving the productivity and enriching the lives of 3,000 smallholder farmers in the Chiapas region of Mexico. Through a collaboration with CIMMYT and a broad consortium of public and private partners called VIDA, Corteva is training farmers on improved agricultural practices and increasing their access to technologies. Corteva will be scaling up this partnership to reach even more smallholder farmers in the region in 2019.
